WEEK OF 1/18/10
"These plans are based on the best prediction of what we hope to accomplish for this week. Please note, that these plans will vary from time to time because of various interruptions (fire drills, assemblies, etc.) and that we want to make sure students master material, before we move on to new concepts."

Language Arts:
Monday: No School
Tuesday: DOL - Introductory paragraph and information page on sloppy copy due. Reading magazine and newspaper articles.
Wednesday: DOL - Learning about plot and setting skills
Thursday: DOL - Read "Priscilla and the Wimps" - focus on plot and setting.
Friday: DOL - Read "Just Once" - focus on plot and conflict - Second paragraph of sloppy copy due.

Math Book 1:
Monday: No School
Tuesday: Warm up - Lab 6.2 Investigating set models in groups - HW: Page 273 #7-14
Wednesday: Warm up - 6.2 Learn about division and ratios - HW: pages 276-277 #9-21
Thursday: Warm up - 6.3 Learn about equivalent fractions and ratios - HW: pages 280-281 # 14-27
Friday: Warm up - 6.4 exploring proportions

Math Book 2:
Monday: No School
Tuesday: Review for chapter 5 test
Wednesday: Chapter 5 test
Thursday: Warm up - 6.1 Learn about ratios - HW: pages 274-275 #15-21
Friday: Warm up - 6.2 learning how to find rates

History:
Monday- MLK Day
Tuesday- Students will summarize a story on Zeus as the leader of the Pantheon and copy the study guide.
Wednesday- Students will summarize a story about Athena (Greek Goddess of wisdom and crafts)
Thursday- Students will summarize a story about Poseidon
Friday- Students will watch videos on the previous gods and goddesses.

History Study Guide Jan 19 to 23

1. Polis- It is a country like city-state.
2. Chronos- Greek god at the beginning of time.
3. Oranos- He killed his father Oranos.
4. Rhea- Wife of Oranos and mother of Zeus.
5. Zeus- Chief Greek god of the Pantheon.
6. Hera- Wife of Zeus and daughter of Oranos. She was known to be a plotter.
7. Poseidon- He was the Greek god of the sea and brother of Zeus.
8. Demeter- She was the earth-goddess and brother to Zeus.
9. Hades- He was the Greek god of the underworld and brother to Zeus.
10. Athena- She was the goddess of home arts/crafts and wisdom. She was the daughter of Zeus.
11. Apollo- He was the Greek god of the sun and an offspring of the Pantheon.
12. Hermes- He was the Greek messenger god and an offspring of the Pantheon.
13. Hephaestus- He was the smith god of the Greeks.
14. Thetis- She was a sea nymph who found Hephaestus and mother to Achilles.
15. Aphrodite- She was the Greek goddess of love.
16. Prometheus- He was a Greek god who gave man the gift of fire.
17. Pandora- She was given a box and told not to open it.
18. Phaethon- He rode his father’s sun chariot and plunged into the ocean.
19. Narcissus- He was a vain Greek boy who was turned into a flower.
20. Persephone- She was the daughter of Demeter who was imprisoned by Hades.
